Celebrating Community, History & Home

Welcome to Kalkallo.com.au, a local platform created by and for the Kalkallo community.

We acknowledge that the Kalkallo area is located on the traditional lands of the Woiwurrung people, and we pay deep respect to their Elders past and present. The Wurundjeri-willam clan, whose country extended through this region including nearby South Morang, have cared for this land for countless generations. The name Kalkallo itself is believed to originate from the language of the local Indigenous people, though its precise meaning has been lost over time. That mystery speaks to the depth and richness of a culture that long predates our written records — and deserves ongoing recognition.

Proudly featuring the Plains Yam Daisy, a native flower once abundant across these plains, our logo honours both Kalkallo’s natural heritage and historical roots. The year 1874 marks the founding of Kalkallo as a township — a moment in time that connects us to both past and present.

This website exists to connect, inform, and celebrate everything that makes Kalkallo unique. From local news and updates to snapshots of our parks, public buildings, and shared spaces, we’re here to reflect the spirit of this growing town.

You’ll also find:

  • Community advertising to support and promote local businesses

  • Current news, events and notices relevant to residents and visitors alike

  • A growing Facebook community page

  • Photos and features that showcase our area and its evolving identity

As Kalkallo continues to grow, so too will this site. New ideas and contributions are always welcome — this is a shared space, shaped by the people who live here.

Let’s stay connected, grounded in history, and inspired by our community’s future.
